Unlike what Kevin Cramer insinuated, consumption of alcoholic beverages does not justify sexual assault

TRIGGER WARNING: An alleged act of sexual assault committed by a nominee for a U.S. Supreme Court seat is referenced in this blog post. Reader discretion is strongly advised.

U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), who is the Republican nominee in this year's North Dakota U.S. Senate race that could decide which major political party controls the U.S. Senate starting early next year, attempted to dismiss serious allegations of sexual assault committed by U.S. Circuit Court Judge and U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh against Christine Blasey Ford by claiming that both Kavanuagh and Blasey Ford were drunk:
Consumption of alcoholic beverages does not justify sexual assault. Claiming that the perpetrator and/or the victim was drunk at the time sexual assault was committed is a common way by those of attempting to dismiss, or even justify, the horrific crime of sexual assault. Sexual assault is NEVER acceptable and can NEVER be justified, period! Representative Cramer's remarks about the serious sexual assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh are extremely unacceptable and extremely offensive.

I encourage North Dakotans who are eligible voters to vote to re-elect U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp on November 6, and I also encourage Senator Heitkamp to vote against Kavanaugh's confirmation, should a vote on Kavanaugh's confirmation reach the full U.S. Senate.
